Big Art Day!

Every year, the Texas Art Educators Association celebrates Big Art Day! This day is used each spring to make art in a big way.

Big Art Day 2026 – Lake Dallas Middle School

Students created post-it note sized artworks in class, then installed them on a banner in the hall.

Big Art Day 2025 – Lake Dallas Middle School

In this school-wide passive project, students were encouraged to grab a piece of colored paper and add it to our mosaic mural. The project displayed the message “We are all works of ART” and was later used as a welcome sign for the 2024-2025 Art Show.

Big Art Day 2024 – Lake Dallas Middle School

In this school-wide project, students participated before school as well as during their advisory period. Each student on campus was given a blank feather to decorate. Students were encouraged to make their feather unique and to represent them. Many students chose to make multiple feathers!

After collecting the feathers, art students helped assemble the large Falcon Mural that was hung in the main hallway as an encouragement for upcoming testing, then it was featured in the 2023-2024 Art Show.

Big Art Day 2023 – Lake Dallas Middle School

In this school-wide passive project, students were encouraged to be a part of the fun and destress by coloring! The Big ART Day display was created as giant coloring pages. Students could stop by, grab a crayon, and make their mark on the mural. We kept the display up all week so that students could enjoy the fun and take a break between classes.

Big Art Day 2022 – Rodriguez Middle School

Students across all levels and sections of art participated in this project. Each art teacher was given one third of the giant doodle banner for their classes to add to. After assembling the banner, it was hung in the main hallway of the school and revealed on Big Art Day! The banner was later featured in the 2021-2022 School Art Show.
