Project Details

Students were tasked with creating 12 miniature artworks based on a chosen theme.

Students were first introduced to the project and past student examples. Then, students were provided with a project planning sheet that outlined their required pieces as well as a calendar to plan and track their progress as well as help them in meeting project checkpoints.

After working on their required pieces for a week, students were introduced to choice pieces they could pick from to fill in the remainder of their project. Students were also given freedom to create their own miniature works that would fit into their theme on their own.

Required Pieces:

• still life
• portrait/ character drawing
• landscape
• writing
• textured piece

After students created all 12 of their miniature works, the class was led through how to fold and construct their exploding books. Then, students arranged and assembled their pieces into their final artwork.
