Art 3 – Abstracted Still Lifes

Middle School | Art 3 (8 Grade)

Project Details

Students began this project by drawing a still life from observation. Students were instructed to block in the basic shapes and forms, getting the arrangement of the objects without adding too much detail.

After drawing in their basic blocks, students were tasked with abstracting their objects in at least three different ways. This could include eliminating or adding objects, stretching and warping the shapes, abstracting the pattern, texture, or design of an object, or otherwise changing the composition to make it unique.

After drawing their abstractions, students were given choice in what materials they could use to complete their designs. Students were required to select a color scheme to use in their artworks.
