Project Details

Students were given a chance to show off who they were in a unique way. In class, we talked about the significance of written language and how it could be used in an abstract way to represent a person (portrait). After learning the basics of typography, students used their computers to look up different fonts they could hand-draw for their project. Students used letters, numbers, and symbols to express their identity in their artwork.

After discussing composition, students were required to create two thumbnail sketches of their project. After selecting the one they thought was the strongest, students created an under-drawing for their work. Their typography was colored in using colored pencil to make it stand out. After finishing their characters, students created a unique background using ink.
