Art 1 – Shattered Value

Middle School | Art 1 (6th Grade)

Elements/ Principles: Value, Contrast/ Emphasis

Focus: Shading, Focal Point

Project Details

Students used their knowledge of value and shading which they learned in a previous project, Texture Shapes, in this project. After drawing an object or animal of importance to them, students divided their paper using a minimum amount of lines. Students then were allowed to use either pencil or colored pencil to shade the created sections. To create contrast, students selected either color to contrast pencil, or another color to contrast their main color. Students emphasized a section or feature of their drawing by using their contrast.
